Bloodshed By Tuere Barnes
In 1973 a gentleman told me that by the year of 2000 all blacks and minorities will be in jail. “How the fuck is that possible.” I thought it sounded like a joke at first. However not long after things started to drastically change. I noticed drugs were everywhere, people went from having nickel bags of weed to pounds. Guns started to become more common, liquor stores were opening up all over. Cocaine was popular and years following crack erupted. That’s when I knew the world was in trouble; everybody was using it. Women sold their bodies for it while men robbed and stole from their love one’s only to feed their habit.
In the new century I can see how everything came about and I always rethink back to that statement said to me in 1973. This was told to me by a wise man and upon hearing this I was inspired to write a story describing a place where everyone’s main focus is money; where betrayal is common and crime runs rampant. This place is “Spring Valley” New York.
